President Bhandari urges Nepalis in Myanmar to make Visit Year 2020 successful

Myanmar– President Bidya Devi Bhandari, who is currently in Myanmar, has urged the community from Nepali origin to assist in making Nepal Visit Year 2020 successful with massive publicity here.

At a programme organized here by All Myanmar Gorkha Hindu Religious Association here Friday, President Bhandari requested the Nepali community to make publicity of Lumbini and Mount Everest.

She appreciated the role the Nepali community played on protection and promotion of Nepali language, culture and costumes and strengthening of Nepal-Myanmar relations. The relations could be strengthened even in trade, investment, tourism and culture, she suggested.

On the occasion, Nepali Ambassador to Myanmar, Bhim Krishna Udas, viewed that after the Indian Nepali, the Nepalis living in Myanmar were active in protecting Nepali language, culture and literature. Some 300 Nepalis had got martyrdom in the World War in Myanmar alone. Several warriors including Shuva Bahadur Rai had got VC medal from British government. Association Chairman Sagar Ghimire said the Nepali people were living happy and peaceful life in Myanmar.

The Nepalis were providing Nepali education and literature to their children by running 250 schools. He also said a campaign would be launched in Myanmar to make Visit Nepal 2020 successful. Association Patron Mani Lal Poudel expressed happiness over the meeting they had with the Nepalis during President Bhandari’s visit.

“We feel fortunate and we found Nepali mother. We wish Nepal provided free visa to us,” he observed. The Association also provided a token of love to the Nepali delegation. The Nepalis living in Myanmar celebrate Dashain, Tihar, Teej and other festivals. RSS
